Defining the word in your terms? Something difficult for many. Simply owed to the fact that we want it to be closer to us, more than anything and so, with eased efforts, we take out that which seems too far to reach and cast our nets close. We do love safety and comfort. You do not find success in your comfort zone; you reach for it. It is a daily practice. You could be living a life that others do not envy, yet you are successful. You could, however, appear to be where others want to be, and still, because you are neither good nor satisfied at your core, you do not perceive yourself as a successful human being.

Define Success.

  1. The accomplishment of an aim or purpose (Cambridge Dictionary)
  2. The achieving of the results wanted or hoped for (dictionary.com)
  3. The favorable or prosperous termination of attempts or endeavors; the accomplishment of one’s goals

(Interestingly!) the Urban Dictionary has 2 words to define success: not sucking. Makes it easy, to be successful, don’t suck, simple. Okay, go on.

Success is when you don’t have to post your achievements on social media because everyone will know them eventually. Ouch!

Success is the product of constantly striving for self-improvement.

All the ‘success’ definitions wind you up into something small, almost insignificant as if you’re simply an NPC in the Life video game. It takes a broader perspective which makes our day-to-day lives suck, sometimes then making it seem unnecessary for us to start doing anything, it’s futile anyway. So small, our efforts become nothing in the grand scheme of things.

The smallest of moves is the most significant. Why? Clearer and crispier pictures have the greatest number of pixels. Your life portrait needs the greatest number of pixels to be as close to perfection as it possibly can get. In light of this, I’ll define success using the smallest of issues we deal with, almost every day. Mostly adopted from Nassim Taleb’s constituents of true wealth, these tenets are an expansion of what living is, and what it definitely could be. Daily.

Redefine your day

Sleep

1 in every 3 people have poor sleeping habits. The other one describes their sleep as fair and the last one has ‘good’ sleep. When we talk of excellent or very good, well, a very small part of the population can testify to that. Worriless sleeping is somewhat of a myth in many people’s lives. This does not come down to much really except the decluttering of the mind at least an hour before sleep. A quarter of our lives can shift simply by us laying the proper foundation for our sleep. Successful sleeping paves the way for the first activities for tomorrow (the future you worry about before sleeping). Refresh. That’s the way. Consume less and let your mind positively create more just before you go into autopilot. And, allow the autopilot to last for long enough. Adequate sleep, despite being just good for you, helps prevent obesity, diabetes, high blood pressure, heart disease, stroke, and frequent mental stress, all among some things you don’t desire.

Your lifestyle around sleep is a wealth and ultimately success contributor. All in 7 hours of doing nothing but allowing your body to rest on its wireless charger (the bed), prepping for tomorrow.

“Sleep is the single most effective thing we can do to reset our brain and body health each day” Dr. Matthew Walker

“Eat well and sleep well. That will feed your nervous system and your psyche. As you get older, you look how you feel” Francesca Anis

“Having peace, happiness, and healthiness is my definition of beauty. And you can’t have any of that without sleep.” Beyonce

Good sleepers don’t suck!

A clear conscience

Listen to music. You will find someone laying their mind down for you to enjoy. You will also find some of the sounds to be very chaotic, mirroring an unsettled mind, some lack of clarity and maybe, some really bad production and overall poor performance from the contributors. Being clear in thought is not so easy to achieve, let alone maintain. I love listening to Mac Miller. This is mainly owed to the fact that I can hear every line he sings. The mind you can read line for line shows how well you have managed to be present. You are successful in being there when you need yourself. Be present. Be present. Be present. Are you here? Right now? Reading this blog? Line for line? Word for word? L e t t e r  f o r  l e t t e r? That’s clarity. You have realized what it means to be. To not have been before but to be. Here. Now. Present. Declutter and let that mind be as clear as it can be. Only then can you flow and allow yourself to do the best for you and the people around you successfully.

A clear conscience is how you will stop being such a loser in real life. It is how you will visualize your goals with no haze.

“There is no pillow as soft as a clear conscience.”John Wooden

“Self-respect and a clear conscience are powerful components of integrity and are the basis for enriching your relationships with others.” Denis Waitley

“Be honest in every way and enjoy the peace that only a clear conscience can bring you.” Thomas Wolsey

“Oh, give thanks to the Lord for He is good and His mercy endures forever” Psalms 136:1

“Gratitude is a posture of your heart. I believe that it has been a gatekeeper in my life and has brought so many blessings.” Amanda Kloots.

Thank you. Say it. Slowly. Mean it. Be grateful, not only for the good but for the bad and the ugly. Why. Because you wouldn’t be here had you not gone through that. Striving to just let go of what it was and being grateful for somewhat a better position is a success. That partner you have. The friend. The one who’s not always so close but prays for you. The parent. The guardian. The one you don’t know about but smiles every time they see you. The one you helped some other day and testifies of your amazing soul up to this day. Be grateful for them. You never are alone; you are just not aware of the people purposefully placed around you. With gratitude, you bring all the unknown blessings into perspective and life successfully goes on.

I am grateful I can lay my thoughts down and give you to resonate with. That’s part of my success story.

Live, Love, Laugh. My favorite caption. Mainly because with 3 L’s we’re still in the positive and releasing dopamine when we are clearly living, passionately loving and uncontrollably laughing. Now and then, you should have a beaming smile on your face. You might as well laugh your lungs out. You know how that makes you feel. And you definitely should see how amazing you look when you are that happy. You owe it to yourself. What you are looking for is not in a system reset of the world, it is in that silly joke you are not laughing at.

Absence of envy!!!

How do you look at people who are doing better than you? Why are you comparing? Envy. A very strange but common thief. All because the thief is you. Stealing from yourself because of what you see and hear. It makes us all ugly. Life should be about us becoming the people who are well deserving of all that we acquire. Sitting there and looking jealously at what others have or do only reduces you to a hater. I do not care about you hating other people. I care about you hating yourself. At your core, you have a god in you. Feed that god well and never allow it to be in the presence of what makes it a demon. Once it turns, you self-destruct. Nothing is worth it. So, be an admirer of what others have and wish yourself well. Evade the need to be in other people’s shoes. Their footprint does not match yours at all, and similarly, they could never be you. Play your own game, that’s how you beat other people at theirs, because their rules do not define your coding.

Go to the gym.

Sitting in the office all day and making tons of cash? Good for you! Your mind got you there. But in all honesty, was your body meant to sit around all day? Is your metabolism well in that office chair? You have a system of about 600 coordinated muscles in that majestic body of yours and you just decided to become an amateur at utilizing them? Go for a walk, you were designed for that. Do some physical work, you were designed for that. Challenge that body, you were designed for that. “But I cannot afford a gym.” You literally have the ground. Crawl. Walk. Run. Your body is wealthy like that. The average person does nothing and their life is ruined by the smallest inconveniences. You want to be them, mediocre? You do not want any strength at all? Or maybe one thing to positively hold on to, no matter how shitty your day goes? You don’t want a piece of any of that good? Ok then couch potato, don’t go to the gym, don’t even try working out or going for a walk. Let your mind fog in that confined space and let your bowel movements go to shambles because you can’t even do some gardening.

Do something you machine! Make yourself proud!

What will money do?

Definitely won’t buy happiness. You know what you will need? Some land. A house. An orchard. Some plants. Yours. The freedom to have a house turned into a home because you and your partner have a solid foundation that allows for some growth. You need to grow some plants so you can witness your seeds grow, seasonally harvest something and get to enjoy the fruits of your labor. Your children need a place to run around as they grow and socialize. You will be quite happy with these successful endeavors, only if you approach them with a pure soul and focus on doing them to live a purposeful life. At some point, it will come to you that you are not on this planet only for yourself, you’re here for something greater. While this seems like something society forces on us, maybe there is some truth in doing so.  We only have as much as we decide to extract out of life, why not bring out all the good? Define God. Allow your life to show others what He really means to you. Others will then see Him through you and likewise, you will see Him through others.

Oh, and lastly, a fast car. A Porsche 992 GT3 RS to be precise. That would be totally awesome.

You decide to be successful or to suck, every day. Your internal and external processes are all gearing you up for something. Take control today. Create your own matrix.
